Joseph retired as a Major in the United States Army serving over 20 years. He received the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Campaign Medal with four overseas Bars, Asiatic-Pac Campaign Medal, Occ Medal, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, Silver Star, and was twice awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Leominster Lodge of ELKS No 1237, Leominster Knights of Columbus, American Legion where he served as past commander, member of the Leominster Senior Center and was a Coordinator for American Boys State Program.
