Donald was a member of many organizations including the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Franco American War Veterans Post #40 and Post #8, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, The Knights of Columbus #406, and the American Family Link; he was the Chaplain in many of these organizations.
As a World War II veteran in Europe, Donald received the following prestigious awards and honors: The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge with a blue shoulder patch, four campaigns with four Bronze Stars, The French Croix Deguerre Medal and shoulder pad, the French Medal of Honor, The Combat Service Medal, US Army-WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Citation Medal, D-Day Medal, Cold War Victory Medal, and various other veteran's medals.
Donald was truly dedicated to his community and fellow veterans. He cared deeply for the many organizations and people he worked with over the years.
